Venus Labyrinth

Site Specific Project

“Venus Labyrinth” is the site specific performance by Cantabile 2 from Vordingborg in Danmark. Special version of the performance were prepared in Bielefeld in Germany on 2008 with participation of  three theatre companies: Cantabile 2, Theaterlabor im Tor 6 from Bielefeld and Teatr A Part.

The performance is constucted as a voyage through the female brain. The spectator is guest in an universe inhabited solely by woman. One by one the spectators will be led – with a few minutes separation – in the labyrinth inhabited by 14 woman. Each spectator will have a one-to-one meeting with three of these woman and will at the same time be spectator and participant in there own intimate performance. The “Venus Labyrinth” takes 6 hours each day of presentations and every spectator will be in the labyrinth for about 50 minutes.

No visitor is ever presented with the entire area, but has only access to specific chosen parts of it; parts that are selected because of the initial choices made by each visitor. This way, no spectators are presented with the same performance.
