Project “last Days of Mankind” in Katowice on June

We cordially invite you to “The Last Days of Mankind”, an international theater performance with artists from seven countries, including the English band The Tiger Lillies.

The performance will take place on June 8 (6 pm) and June 9 (8 pm) in the theatre hall of Pałac Młodzieży in Katowicach as part of the 25th International Performing Arts Festival A Part.

“The Last Days of Mankind” is an international theater project, which Teatr A Part co-produces with Theaterlabor Bielefeld based on the antiwar satirical drama of Austrian writer Karl Kraus, documenting the horrors and absurdities of the First World War.

The show, directed jointly by Yuri Birte Anderson, Marcin Herich and Siegmar Schroeder, is attended by artists from seven countries: Theaterlabor Bilelefeld from Germany, the Scottish Leith Theatre, the Serbian theater Plavo Pozoriste, the Media Culture Association from Ukraine, the Association Arsène from France and Teatr A Part. The music for the performance was composed by the famous English band The Tiger Lillies, who will play in the performance live.

Katowice’s presentations of “The Last Days of Mankind” is the second part of the project. The first, directed by Yuri Birte Anderson and John Paul McGroarty took place last November at the Leith Theatre in Edinburgh on the centenary of the end of the First World War. The third and final version of the performance will take place in Bielefeld, Germany in October this year.

“The Last Days of Mankind” is part of the “Cafe Europa” project, carried out by Theaterlabor Bielefeld in cooperation with the Leith Theater in Edinburgh, Association Arsène from France and Teatr A Part with the support of the European Commission under the Creative Europe program.
